STATEMENT OF SUPPORT

To our esteemed community,
As co-directors of Latino Academy we want to affirm what we know to be true and what we value as an agency and as people. Despite the challenging and uncertain times, we are confident that each step students take towards their accomplishments will contribute to their personal and professional growth, and in return to the community's development. Today, more than ever, Latino Academy's team is committed to continue bringing quality programming so that together we can build a better tomorrow. We keep fighting together to reach the "American Dream." We are a strong and resilient community, and we will overcome adversities through education and training. We are glad to be part of the new phase in the lives of many students. We also pledge to continue providing a safe space where students flourish and reach their full potential.

EAGER TO LEARN

Latino Academy is extremely excited to launch another scholastic semester with Saturday classes kicking off February 4th. We are always humbled by students drive to continue their education. We had the opportunity to feature two students on our radio program, ESS Hoy- Educate, Entrénate y Superate Hoy (Educate, Train and be a better you today), on La Movida. They spoke about what drives them to come to Latino Academy.

Meet Jacquelina: Jacquelina is the mother of two school age boys with will and determination  to become a role model for them. As a single mother she knows her boys look to her for many things. In the Fall of 2016, she enrolled into four courses with the Latino Academy. This is no easy feat, the time commitment of four classes speaks to Jacquelina’s unbending spirit. She was enrolled in ServSafe Food Managers certification course, Intermediate English class and two computer literacy courses. Her boys accompanied her and watch their mom go to classes. Jacquelina was one of the first to come enroll for classes again in 2017. We can’t wait to see her in class.

Meet Jose: Jose has worked hard throughout his life to gain stable employment and has a good paying job which he has been at for over six years. Even though he is a loyal employee and financially stable, he realized one thing. His job is not guaranteed. Employees can be dispensable. He heard about Latino Academy’s Bilingual Commercial Driver’s License program and decided to add a tool to his toolbox- a CDL License. He knew that employment opportunities for CDL drivers are plentiful. So, he enrolled and has become an advocate for us. He saw other students working on their English and professional development and encourage people he knew to came to the academy. Thank you Jose. We build our community up together.
