Henderson Transylvania Young Democrats
Wednesday, February 8, 6 PM

Brian Burgess, the current acting chair for Henderson Transylvania Young Democrats, and a few other people are working very hard to get HTYD up and running, unified, and active in the community. To this end, they are calling a meeting  on February 8 at 6 PM to give all interested young democrats an opportunity to meet, discuss ideas, and see where we can go from here. The meeting will be at:

Old Etowah Smokehouse
6577 Brevard Rd, Etowah, NC

If you cannot make it to this meeting but still would like to be involved with HTYD, just send Brian an email at burgesbd@gmail.com or a call at 704.473.7247 so he can add you to their list. If you know of someone who may be interested in working with Henderson Transylvania Young Democrats, please share this information.

“Strings ‘n Things” Folk/Country/Pop Music Jam
New Bimonthly Event Starts February 8, 2017
HCDP Headquarters, 905 Greenville Hwy
7 pm (2nd and 4th Wednesdays)

Onlookers are quite welcome, too. We’re opening our doors to invite the strummers, pickers, and singers in our community to join the new  gentle music jam spot in Hendersonville in a strictly non-partisan and no political talk environment. Bring your instrument, your music, your heart to sing in a circle, a poem to share, a harmonica, spoons, etc. – anything to make sweet music.

This is a great opportunity to share and learn a mix of skills! Please consider a donation for the coffee we serve, and you also can bring a small amount of beer or wine (no hard liquor, please).  For more info, call Nancy Glowacki at 828-606-5201.

Doug Freeman

Doug Freeman, former Chairman of the Democratic Party of Henderson County, died at home February 1 after a long illness. His wife, Penny, and daughter, Koby were both with him at the time. Penny said that he was a kind, profoundly decent man who will be missed by all those who loved him as well as those who knew him only through his passion for politics, for the Democratic Party, and against hate, bigotry and discrimination of all kinds.

Visitation will be held next Monday, February 6th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 538 Tracy Grove Road, Hendersonville NC 28792.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish to, please contribute to your favorite charity or cause in Doug's memory or to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, the incredible hospice organization we have right here in Hendersonville.
