Hi All!
Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.
A book I read recently--
The Book Whisper by Donalyn Miller is great food for thought concerning independent reading in classrooms.
Another book I read recently--
The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz. This was a fantastic book. Its primary audience is people who work in high-tech companies, but it's also a great read for educational leaders--especially when things aren't going well. This would pair nicely with Having Hard Conversations by Jennifer Abrams.
Post I'm reading--
Savings, Longevity and the Year in Fitness by Gretchen Reynolds. From the piece: "... exercise science this year taught us that being inactive could potentially cost us years from our lives and many thousands of dollars from our wallets."
Another post I'm reading--
If You Forget As Fast As You Read, This Is For You by Niklas Goeke. This is a very helpful post regarding memory and reading. It would pair nicely with the excellent book Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer.
Quote I'm pondering--
"People need to be reminded more often than they need to be instructed."--Samuel Johnson
