A Radically Different Media Landscape
George Luna Pena, our former Special Projects Coordinator, published a beautiful article about Generation Justice and how it is linked to his vision for a new media landscape in 2040. Here is an excerpt:
"Generation Justice provides young Indigenous and people of color with critical leadership training. We cannot expect a media landscape rooted in justice without centering the leadership of young Indigenous and people of color."

Pauly receives NAJA Scholarship
Senior fellow, Pauly Denetclaw, received a scholarship from the Native American Journalist Association to continue her education and further her skills as a journalist.

Luna Co-producing Upcoming Documentary - “Hermanas en Ruedas”
Long-term Generation Justice member Luna Olavarria Gallegos just returned from Cuba while co-producing a documentary called “Hermanas en Ruedas”. The film follows the stories of young women in the underground skate culture in Havana, Cuba. The members of Hermanas en Ruedas seek to find their paths in a subculture that is not only male-dominated but completely underground. Way to go, Luna! The film is set to release in the Winter of 2017 in Havana, Cuba. Watch the trailer here.
Nicole Accepted as a Semi-Finalist for the Fulbright Program
Generation Justice member Nicole Baty has been accepted as a semi-finalist for the prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Program. The program places grantees in schools overseas to supplement local English language instruction in the classrooms.

Jonquilyn Starts New Job at 1A
Long-term Generation Justice member Jonquilyn Hill recently accepted a radio producer position for “1A”, a WAMU 88.5 FM public affairs program in Washington D.C. also distributed by NPR. “1A” features engaging conversations, perspectives, and insights on major issues unfolding in America and around the world.

Jason Starting as Assistant Editor at WTOP 103.5FM
2013 Fellow Jason Fuller accepted the newsroom assistant editor and operations assistant for WTOP 103.5 FM, a renown radio station covering the latest news, traffic, and weather forecasts in the Washington, D.C. region.
