MARTYRS LANE CONSULTATION
SAVE THE UPSHOT LANE FIELDS

FUNDING REQUEST

The fields either side of Upshot Lane are once more under serious threat of development.  The Neighbourhood Forum are fighting to prevent this by preparing a response to the current Martyrs Lane consultation – extended to 5pm on 27th February now.

Our last newsletter announced the Consultation and we need you all to write preferring Martyrs Lane to the original 6 sites in Byfleet, Pyrford, Hook Heath and Mayford.  The website is now updated with the Forum’s view on the consultation.  This includes a number of points we think are important and you might like to consider in preparing your response to save the fields on Upshot Lane.  Go to http://www.pyrfordforum.org/martyrs-lane-consultation/ for full details.

However, there is very vigorous opposition, from Woodham, to the possibility of a site on Martyrs Lane being substituted for the original 6 sites.

So the fight to save Pyrford Green Belt goes on and this will be our last opportunity to change WBC proposals for safeguarded land required for 2027-2040 before their proposals are finalised for consultation leading to final approval of the Secretary of State. The stakes are high and every representation from Pyrford to the Council will count.

Whilst you make your views known it’s vital that the Forum supports your views with a professional and objective assessment of the planning alternatives.  Our view is that the single site at Martyrs Lane is a better location for safeguarded development land because it will do least damage to our environment and there will be very significant economies of scale arising from one large site compared to the original 6 smaller sites.

To do this the Forum have retained LDA, the consultants we used in June/July 2015, to help us.  Their services will cost £12,000 and we are calling on your generosity to help us.  We have already raised £3,000 but need your help with the balance of £9,000.

We will be very grateful for any help you can give us and donations can be made by cheque, made out to Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum, and lodged with our Treasurer, Joy Sachak at, The Old House, Pyrford Road, Pyrford GU22 8UE.

Many thanks in anticipation that you can help us.
