Rare Bird Alerts
On January 9th, a photograph of a Ferruginous Hawk, taken in Orland Park, Cook County, caused quite a stir in the birding community. Our run on wintering Prairie Falcons continued as Colin Dobson found one near Nipper Wildlife Sanctuary in Sangamon County on January 21st. Finally, Andrew Aldrich photographed a California Gull on February 4th at Deadstick Pond in Chicago, Cook County.
