Believe it or not, members of Team Scarecrow are already hard at work preparing for the 2017 Cambria Scarecrow Festival. We are putting the finishing touches on Camp Scarecrow, our new scarecrow building workshop space. This new space will enable our volunteers to rehab old scarecrows and build new ones. Some local carpenters, both professional and hobbyists, are already cutting out wood in preparation for building new stands for our new scarecrows. Businesses, community members, groups of young and old are already trying to decide what their scarecrow will look like.
While visitors tend to only think about scarecrows in the Fall, those of us in Cambria and San Simeon dream about scarecrows all year round! But, don't worry, we do lots of other fun stuff too. After all, when you live on the Central Coast, you must take time out to stroll the Moonstone Beach boardwalk or hike along Fiscalini Ranch, gather at the Friday Farmer's Market for fresh fruits and vegetables, visit one or more of the many local wineries, and feast on delicious food at any one of the amazing restaurants. And, of course, there is always Hearst Castle, Piedras Blancas Lighthouse and the Elephant Seals! Will you be joining us this year?
Mission Statement
Through the creation and annual public display of scarecrows, the Cambria Scarecrow Festival, Inc. provides a sustainable, inclusive, collaborative set of programs to encourage artistic creativity and visibility to the communities of Cambria and San Simeon.
