Hello everyone and welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter! Firstly we would like to say

Local company TasteTech Ltd have kindly supported Changes Bristol and provided a generous donation to assist our work in the community. Their recognition of the importance of good mental health and their commitment to supporting us as a local charity in these challenging times is wonderful. These funds will go towards helping more people obtain much needed support with their mental health needs.

Below you can see our Vice-chair of Trustees Alison McDougall accepting the donation from the TasteTech Managing Director Janis Sinton:

Surviving or thriving?

Good mental health is more than the absence of a mental health problem.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, 8-14 May 2017, the Mental Health Foundation are going to look at mental health from a new angle. Rather than ask why so many people are living with mental health problems, they will seek to uncover why too few of us are thriving with good mental health. With people struggling to cope with the demands of life and stuck on getting through the day, they will explore:

  • how many of us are surviving or thriving, and the difference between the two
  • why some communities are under strain and what government can do to support them to thrive
  • what steps we can take to look after our mental health, building resilience to cope with the demands of life.
Here at Changes we will be joining in this exploration by holding a small exhibition (venue yet to be arranged) of art, craft, photography made by Changes members on the theme 'Survive or Thrive'. With this in mind we are asking our members to start creating now!
