BETHEL BIBLE CAMP: February Newsletter

Sending love your way, this Valentines Day!

V
alentine’s Day is this month.  It is the celebration of romantic love.  To find your future spouse can be a difficult task.  Where can you find your soul mate?  How do you know they are suited for you?  Proverbs 31: 10 echoes those questions, “Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?” Fortunately Proverbs does not leave us hanging.  In verse 30 it provides the answer, “Charm is deceptive and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised.”  (New Living Translation)  The summer of 1981 when I volunteered as staff at Bethel Bible Camp provided me the opportunity to find my future wife who was also staff at teen camp.  Camp was an opportunity to meet someone who shared similar interests in camp work and serving God.  Check!  A full week of camp provides you opportunities to see the person in not always their best light and you gain insight into their character:  Do they display the fruit of the Spirit – love, peace, patience, self control? Check!!  If they are able to display these characteristics to campers and staff, they will likely continue to display them to their spouse.  As Proverbs said, a woman who fears the LORD is to be greatly praised.  During camp it was evident that she was someone who loved God.  Check!!!  By the time camp ended, I knew this was someone I wanted to know better.  Later that fall, we started dating and in 1983 we were married.  So come to camp as staff this year, you may find someone of great value.

RENOVATION UPDATE
The plans for the renovation on the dining hall for the kitchen and the bathrooms are still being reviewed. Details are still being hashed out in what would be the best way in developing the building's structure and layout, so that we can maximize space for both the kitchen and the bathrooms.  Also looking at options on different materials, so the bathrooms can withstand the harsh weather, which is a problem we have been having in the existing bathrooms to date. Going forth the next step will be some of our long lasting volunteer kitchen staff will be meeting with kitchen planners to get the facility up not just to snuff, but also to comply with code so we are able to keep serving the camp. Once this is complete we will be able to get a better break down on cost of materials, and labor. Please keep the renovations in your prayers and pray that the Lord will keep opening doors, showing us his will and plan for the future of the camp. For it is in him and him alone that all things are possible.
