Social Media Trends Conference

Earlier this month our Marketing Coordinator Jemima, attended the first of Brand South Australia's Social Media Events.

The event was held at the Tandanya national Aboriginal Culture Institute, where Simone Douglas, CEO of Social Media AOK, spoke about the methods needed to be used to become  #SeriouslySocial business in 2017.

The session covered the most popular and heavily used social media platforms and the best ways to utilise these and the new updates and features that these platforms underwent in 2016. The most interesting aspect however, was the predicted trends we can expect to see in the social media landscape in 2017. Simone spoke of what these trends will possibly be and how we can prepare our businesses to stay ahead of these trends.

From Simone's extensive experience in business and her practical focus, we are sure that her tips and techniques will help all who attended make the required changes to ensure that their business gets the most out of their social media accounts as they can.

Telstra Launches First Commercial Gigabit LTE Service

Earlier this month Telstra announced that it has now launched the first commercial Gigabit LTE service1. Now if IT related news isn’t really your forte you’re probably wondering right about now that does this mean for me?

Well this new LTE technology (“Long Term Evolution” is the term used to describe improvements within mobile broadband), will provide Telstra’s network with the ability to download at speeds of up to one gigabit per second2. Making “Telstra’s Nighthawk M1 mobile broadband hotspot the fastest mobile device in the world”3.

Not only will the Nighthawk M1 be pushing technology speeds to the limit, but customers will have the ability to:
  • Download a typical 3.5MB song in a fraction of a second3.
  • Download a 20MB PowerPoint presentation in a second3.
  • Download a 300MB one-hour TV episode in 16 seconds3.
  • Download a 3GB movie in 3 minutes3.
But that is not all the Nighthawk M1 can do! To meet the needs of their customer’s Telstra and their partners have designed the Nighthawk M1 so that it can charge customers smartphones and act as a server, storing files and movies for customers to come back to later3.

The Nighthawk M1 also boasts a range of other features that are sure to make customer’s happy, including:
  • A micro SD slot and USB port for storage1.
  • An Ethernet connection so that consumers can connect to overseas Internet services1.
  • The ability to support Wi-Fi speeds of either 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz1.
  • The ability to support and connect up to 20 users to the Internet1.
  • A battery life of up to 16 hours with continuous use1.

With such great features the Nighthawk is sure to be a massive hit with consumers when it hits the market at the end of February this year. With prices beginning at $360 upfront or on a range of plans, the lives of those in the major Australian capital cities are about to get a whole lot easier in the next year with the use this small portable device2.

BYOD - The Future of Education

One of the many solutions that we offer here at IP Partners are Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs.

BYOD programs are the future of education. Encompassing Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT), BYOD programs enable students, to bring with them their own personal device, whether that be a PC, laptop, tablet or phone, to complete their work on1.

Why BYOD?
When BYOD is bought up, many questions get thrown around. Why should we choose to implement a BYOD program, when we already have multiple technological devices for student use?

Well BYOD programs allow students to use their own personal devices that they already use at home, at school as well. Not only are these devices often newer and more advanced than the existing IT equipment, but students often have a better understanding of how to use their own devices more effectively as well1.

BYOD programs also provide various other benefits for students, including:
  • Allowing students to use their preferred method of learning in the classroom, which can enable better productivity2.
  • Engaging students by using new, fun and relatable learning methods2.
  • Encouraging collaborative and cooperative relationships between students2.
  • Increasing student’s enthusiasm, productivity and engagement for learning2.
  • Ensuring students understand how to use devices responsibly, and the role that they play in everyday life2.
  • Reducing IT expenditure, on hardware, software licensing and device maintenance1.

Why Choose Us?
Here at IP Partners we work very closely with the school, to create a BYOD program that suits their needs and requirements, including the creation and management of a free online portal2.

These online portals are customised to fit with the school’s logo, colours and branding. They have also been specifically designed for ease of use, with everything parents/guardians require all on the one screen. All the customer needs to do is sign up, select the device and then pay2. These portals have been tested underload, and have never failed or been down due to high traffic.

There are various options available on each portal, including the ability to purchase, Accidental Damage and Theft Insurance and bags, if the customer desires (we do highly recommend purchasing the insurance to ensure the longevity of your device)2.

We are able to create a demo version as well as current live portals to share with the school leadership team, committee and/or parents, so that everyone understands and can see exactly how the portals work2.

BYOD Event
As school are just starting back up for the year, we have decided to begin running information sessions for schools seeking further interest in BYOD programs. We have built a high professional profile for schools providing BYOD programs.

The first session will be held in late February which includes a breakfast before a presentation by guest speakers, which will outline the IP Partners BYOD solution, including unique features and benefits.

Devices will be on display and specialists will be present to discuss how our BYOD solution has previously been implemented in other schools, and how we can help you!

If you would like extra information, you can find it on our website: https://www.ippartners.com.au/solutions/byod/
