Dear Friends,

A dear friend wrote it this way this week...

"He is working for good even in this, but He knows your pain and tears, dear Dara. It seems as if every attempt to save a child is a battle in Mozambique because it's working against the principalities that work there. You know that. Your fight for Nede, and now Zinha, are breaking strongholds-- it's for the other kids too, who don't have anyone to fight for them. Be encouraged."

Friends, it's no coincidence that at the same time were fighting for our daughter, that it's come out (again), there is abuse happening at another local orphanage (not Zinha's). There is heavy darkness and major concern for children here in Mozambique. The government does not stand for them. WE MUST!  We fight on behalf of all children in Mozambique-- Nede, Zinha and all the others that we can't personally take in.

We met with our lawyer for a long time yesterday. The director of social services hardly showed up for work this week. The required report was not completed. Her actions are more than 100 days past the lawful time frame and, she's ignored 2 court orders to get the process back to the court. The plan is, Monday morning at 7:30am, our lawyer will be meeting with the director of social services (pray she comes to work) to give her an ultimatum. If she doesn't release our file we'll then be involving her superiors including the Governor of the province.  Our lawyer has good relationships with these people and he repeatedly said, "we must do what's best for the child, they are NOT doing that." In a previous meeting he also made it clear to several within social services that, "not one person will be getting a cent from this! Don't let that be what you're waiting for."

The state of affairs here is grave. Please keep praying.

The above picture was from yesterday-- Zinha on the right and her friend from the orphanage on the left. It's lovely to see her playing and happy, although, each day she resists Chad and myself more and more. We can't blame her-- she's confused and doesn't trust adults. It breaks our hearts something deep. Many, many tears have been shed. The Lord holds them.

Prayer requests

  • 7:30am meeting Monday morning
  • For the file to return to the court
  • Protection over Zinha-- mind, body and soul
  • Protection over all children in neighboring orphanages
  • For someone in government to do what's best for the sake of children
  • Zinha to come home as a Vanden Bosch
We stand on this promise:

I’m the one who’s on your side,
defending your cause, rescuing your children.
And your enemies, crazed and desperate, will turn on themselves,
killing each other in a frenzy of self-destruction.
Then everyone will know that I, God,
have saved you—I, the Mighty One of Jacob. Isaiah 49:25-26

Until She's Home....
