CRIME STATISTICS
Millcreek resident Pepa Taufi has headed a Neighborhood Watch group in Millcreek for many years. His map and summary of 2016 general crime statistics can be found on our website here.
The UPD prepares maps monthly showing the locations in Millcreek of offenses, calls reported, and cases opened. We will post them monthly on the website here. The maps for January 2017 are here.

NEWS
Parley's Trail Progress
MILLCREEK. Parley's Trail was conceived as a walking and bicycling corridor connecting the Bonneville Shoreline Trail from the mouth of Parley's Canyon to the Jordan River Parkway Trail. During years of planning and building, the segment of trail in Millcreek is currently improved from Suicide Rock to the bridge over I-215 (just north of the 33rd South exit), down through Parley's Nature Reserve, and then up into Tanner Park, where the segment ends.
Connecting to Sugarhouse Park, where the trail recommences, has been a condumdrum. To get there, the trail must cross the 23rd East exit from I-80, and then I-80 itself.
UDOT and Salt Lake County, working with the PRATT (Parley's Rails, Trails & Tunnels) Coalition and Salt Lake City, have resolved the problem. The map above shows that a tunnel and a bridge will be built to cross the 2300 East Roundabout exit. The map below shows that the trail will then continue west on the south side of I-80, across a pedestrian bridge at 2000 East, and then on to the 1700 East overpass across I-80, to connect with the trail in Sugarhouse Park.
Construction is currently ongoing, and will last at least through the spring. Salt Lake County provides periodic updates. You can subscribe to their email list here.
Theft of Cargo Trailers on Upswing
MILLCREEK. The UPD reports that thieves in Millcreek have been focusing on utility and cargo trailers in the last few months. Stolen trailers are difficult to trace, as many are not licensed and do not have a VIN number. Thieves sell these types of trailers on local classified sites for far less than their real value. The common claim: "My [relative] died and my [other relative] asked me to help get rid of this."

The Millcreek Council may temporarily recess the Council meeting to convene in a closed session to discuss the character, professional competence, or physical or mental health of an individual, pending or reasonable imminent litigation, and the purchase, exchange, or lease of real property, as provided by Utah Code Annotated §52-4-205

Public Comment Policy and Procedure: The purpose of public comment is to allow citizens to address items on the agenda. Citizens requesting to address the commission will be asked to complete a written comment form and present it to the acting city recorder. In general, the chair will allow an individual two minutes to address the Council. A spokesperson, recognized as representing a group in attendance, may be allowed up to five minutes. At the conclusion of the citizen comment time, the chair may direct staff to assist the citizen on the issue presented; direct the citizen to the proper administrative department(s); or take no action. This policy also applies to all public hearings. Citizens may also submit written requests (outlining their issue) for an item to be considered at a future council meeting. The chair may place the item on the agenda under citizen comments; direct staff to assist the citizen; direct the citizen to the proper administrative departments; or take no action.
