Career Networking Event

SWU students interacted with potential employers during SWU's First Annual Career Networking Event Feb. 9 at Central. The event was organized by SWU's Career Services office and included a career fair and a networking lunch.
According to Ellen Pate, director of Career Services, approximately 90 students attended the Career Fair and 70 students and staff attended the networking lunch. "Approximately 10 students had interviews with employers resulting in at least three job offers being extended on the spot," Pate said. Click here to learn more about SWU's Career Services.
SWU President Dr. Todd Voss is pictured with Clemson University President Dr. James Clements during the State of Clemson luncheon Feb. 7 at the Madren Center on the Clemson University campus. Voss gave the invocation during the event, organized by Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce. SWU was one of the event sponsors.

Nodine presents at state conference

Debra Nodine, an AGS admissions coordinator for Central and Greenville and Dean Grile, senior director of enrollment and academic services, represented SWU at the SCAECE (S.C. Association of Early Care and Education) conference Feb. 5 in Columbia. Also, Nodine was a featured conference speaker and talked about SWU’s new Early Childhood and Family Studies (ECFS) degree program. With her was Avery Martin, speaking about scholarships available for associate and bachelor’s degree programs through T.E.A.C.H. According to Grile, SWU’s ECFS program and T.E.A.C.H. are a “perfect match” for potential SWU students working in early child care.

“Early Childhood and Family Studies is an interdisciplinary program that prepares graduates to work in a variety of school settings that serve children and families,” Grile said. “Through this program, students acquire the values, knowledge, skills and dispositions within a ‘Christian ethic of care’ necessary to positively impact contemporary families in the areas of early childhood and family studies.”
SWU also had a drawing for a gift card and also for a gift basket of SWU swag.
