February 13, 2017: Help My Unbelief
View this email in your browser
Dear <<First Name>>,

“And He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. “It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”” Mark 9:21-24, NAS95.

We probably all have areas of our lives where we have given up hope. Yet, as children of God, there are times when we encounter Jesus anew and He reminds us that meeting with Him is the boost we need to be able to see beyond our present situation.

I love that simply reading an ancient story like this one can boost my belief in the Lord's ability to still act on my behalf. Even long buried broken dreams awaken a new resolve to trust. This father had suffered along with his child's torment for his whole life. When he meets Jesus, He pleads with Him, "...if you can do anything..."

Jesus meets this man's broken hope with these profound words. "All things are possible to him who believes." However, the father responds with the honest declaration of his heart. "I do believe; help my unbelief." This is where Jesus meets him with his miracle.

We don't need great faith to experience the hand of Jesus in our lives. We only need honest trust. Jesus will make up the difference. Resting upon the power that is inherent in Christ is better than resting in the lack of belief that is not within us. If you are looking at an impossible situation in your life today, simply declare your honest trust in Jesus again and let Him do the rest.

Enjoy today's chapter.

Love,

Pastor Stuart
