President's Note
On February 2, Punxsutawney Phil's saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter. As adorable as Phil is, I'm not sure if he's accurate given the upcoming forecast in our area. As a result, please note event notices, especially those that rely on the weather for updates and/or cancellations. We were hoping to try the Skates and Cocoa again this year but that seems unlikely yet again. Perhaps we'll try much earlier in the season next time!
We are in the midst of organizing the event calendar for this year. It was decided at last week's meeting that an attempt will be made to repeat the events held last year with a sprinkle of new ones. Stay tuned for announcements! We currently have two positions to fill on the Board; Vice President and Member-At Large. To date, I've had a few people inquire about the vacancies....let me know how we can help! It's a wonderful way to build connections and form friendships! Thank you for another fun filled evening! We had a wonderful time getting to know new neighbors and reconnecting with those during these cold and often isolating winter months. I'm pleased to learn that we've welcomed five new members to the association. This is a targeted growth area for us - community engagement. Please help us spread the word to neighbors by either letting them know about LENA or invite them to any of the events and/or meetings.

Take-A-Guess
Does this picture look familiar to you? Have a guess! For those of you not on Facebook or perhaps not aware that we have a Facebook group, neighbors had the opportunity to walk down memory lane this past weekend. Stories, photos, and newspaper prints were shared from various sources of our neighborhood. Coincidentally, this was also one my interests as well as others who responded to the survey recently. I'd like to form a group of neighbors to help research and compile information on our neighborhood which we will publish on the website for all to view. Interested?  Community Dinner
Join volunteers, staff, families, and neighbors in a community dinner Friday, March 3 starting at 5PM. This event will take place at the Lake Edge United Christ Church, directly across the street from Allis Elementary (4200 Buckeye Road).

Some of you got to meet Stacey and Bill in person at the Pizza Party last month. We will continue to enroll members until the spaces are filled. We hope you'll take advantage of the opportunity in supporting a small, family-owned, local farm with fresh certified organic produce delivered to our neighborhood. Rutabaga Paddlesports to Offer Kayak and Stand-up Paddleboard Rentals at Olbrich Beach House

 Rutabaga Paddlesports will open a kayak and stand-up paddleboard concession at the Olbrich Beach House in 2017. Rutabaga was selected by the Madison Parks Department to run a new rental operation, and we are excited to expand our rentals to east-side Madison neighborhoods and to be able to offer additional instructional program for adults and youths at this new location.
