Dei Verbum is one of four major documents from Vatican II that are called constitutions. Dei Verbum is the Council's "dogmatic constitution on divine revelation." In other words, it treats of God's revelation of who He is and of His plan for our salvation -- a revelation that comes to us through Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition.

As part of St. Procopius Abbey's the Documents of Vatican II lecture series, theologian and prolific author, Dr. Matthew Levering, will speak on Dei Verbum. His talk is titled, "Dei Verbum: Persons and Propositions," and is on Wed., Feb. 15th at 7:00 PM in the Abbey Church of St. Procopius Abbey. Admission is free and open to the public.

Dr. Matthew Levering is the James N. and Mary D. Perry, Jr. Chair of Theology at Mundelein Seminary (University of Saint Mary of the Lake). An author of many books, he has a forthcoming book on Vatican II, titled, An Introduction to Vatican II as an Ongoing Theological Event (CUA Press).
