Welcome to the latest edition of AMIA’s My Mango, your weekly roundup of the latest industry forecasts, wholesale prices and marketing activities, delivered to your inbox every Tuesday throughout the season.

Crop Forecast

As the season progresses in each region, the timing of harvest for each variety and weekly volume estimates will be adjusted. Please check the updated forecast and crop flow tables as they are released.

Regional Reports

Mareeba and Dimbulah

Small volumes of Keitt, Palmer and Brooks have been picked and dispatched to market. Small volumes should remain until early March in this region.

South East and Central Queensland

The last large volume of Honey Gold was dispatched to market last week, along with a small volume of R2E2, Keitt and Palmer. Small volumes will continue also continue until early March.

The AMIA team will add to these regional descriptions as more information becomes available.

Crop Flow

Last week’s dispatched tray volumes from Mareeba/Dimbulah and South East and Central Queensland: 66,103 trays.

Mango Industry Standards

Our industry standards for dry matter and brix for key varieties are in the table below.

11^th Australian Mango Conference – Registration Now Open!

Registration is now open for the next Australian Mango Conference, which will be held in Bowen, north Queensland from Tuesday 2-Friday 5 May.

A preliminary program will be available next week, with this year’s conference focusing on innovation and new technology and the real benefits these can make on your business.

We also have some exciting social events planned and it will also be a great opportunity to catch up with your industry colleagues, reflect on another mango season and plan for future seasons.

With the last few weeks of summer on our doorstep and Valentine’s Day this week, publications have been pushing out an abundance of mango recipes!

On TV, Better Homes & Gardens broadcast a recipe for caramelised butter cake with mango and pineapple sauce, whilst online, Seniors News shared a romantic menu plan including mangoes, HerCanberra published Valentine's Day lunchbox ideas including mango, and My Kitchen Rules posted a recipe for chilli salt fruits with green mango and pineapple salsa.

Meanwhile in print, Take 5 printed a recipe for mango yum cha pancake, Home+ shared a recipe for curried chicken with mango salad, Diabetic Living included recipes for mango and coconut smoothie, and grilled cauliflower, mango and chickpea toss, Super Food Ideas printed a recipe for mango and raspberry swirl slushie, Taste.com.au included a recipe for soft tacos with grilled haloumi, mango and jalapeño salsa, and Who shared a recipe for grilled chicken skewers with mango salad.

Moreover, LifeHacker Australia showed their audience how to peel the perfect mango, whilst The Carousel, and LyndeyMilan.com both shared our recently-distributed mango freezing tips, to encourage their readers to stock up on mangoes and freeze them ahead of the winter months.

Finally, a feature article was published in delicious magazine about innovation in the mango industry, following journalist Anthony Huckstep's November visit to Peter Marks' mango farm in Katherine. The piece discusses the use of NIR technology in measuring mango dry matter and how it translates to a tastier eating experience for consumers.

SOCIAL

On social media, our friend RecipeTin Eats shared a blog post, Instagram video and Facebook post showing her community how to make homemade mango ice cream!

body + soul also shared our mango-in-a-glass slicing tips video to their Facebook community, which consists of over 91,000 people!
