Disaster Risk Reduction

PMI starts Early Recovery Operations in response to Aceh earthquake

The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has started early recovery operation in response to Pidie Jaya, Aceh earthquake. The recovery interventions focus on livelihood, shelters and people’s health. These interventions are carried out after the post-emergency response of the disaster that ended last December 2016. Click here to read more

Cambodia’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programme (WASH) Updates in January 2017

Cambodia Red Cross Society completed the following activities: Handing-over of emergency water purification unit at NHQ and Provincial level, Awareness towards hygiene promotion activity in Kratie, Svay Rieng and Bantey Mean Chey provinces, Installation of solar panels and Hand Pump facility installation in Toul Prasat village, Bantey Mean Chey province Click here to read more

Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA)
Improving communication, engagement and accountability in all we do.

This is a joint effort of the IFRC and ICRC, launched at the end of January 2017. This guide does not present a new activity, but rather adds value to what we are already doing by offering practical advice and support to improve how we communicate with, engage with and are accountable to people in need. It is written for Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and provides advice and support to build CEA in a more systematic, predictable and evidence-based way within the management cycle. South East Asia Youth Network Online Meeting | 25 January 2017

Roundtable Discussion on Climate Change Adaptation with Inclusion | 24 January 2017 | Bangkok, Thailand

Plan International Asia Regional office hosted the roundtable discussion on the topic of “Climate Change Adaptation with Inclusion”. It is an informal group meeting of international organisations such as the UN and NGOs working in Bangkok. Representatives of IFRC (Youth and Volunteering Officer and Health Officer) actively involved in the discussion by sharing best practices of youth and children, women and elderly in climate change adaptation. Red Cross Youth launches programme to nurture socially-responsible young leaders

The Singapore Red Cross Youth (RCY) launched a Youth Leadership Badge to provide youths in Singapore with a comprehensive programme for leadership in humanitarian causes. Click here to read more

Launch of School Safety Mapping Initiative by Southeast Asia Youth Network | 25 January 2017

Southeast Asia Youth Network (SEAYN) launched the School Safety Mapping Exercise for Southeast Asia National Societies (NSs) through online meeting. The mapping of the NSs’ school safety programmes and activities will provide an evidence-based visibility to the role of the NSs and will strengthen their advocacy works. Click here to read more

This is the first IFRC tool that focuses on gender and diversity in organisational development (OD), to support National Societies to fulfil their commitments to sensitivity and equity on gender and diversity.

The purpose of this tool is to provide a standard method of conducting an organisational assessment on gender and diversity, focusing on five key thematic areas: political will and leadership, organizational culture, resources and capacities, programme delivery and implementation and accountability.
