Children's Garden Open for School Visit in Term 2

Classes will be able to visit the Children’s Garden at the Botanic Garden through one of our hands-on education programmes. They include collaborative learning activities to develop students’ understanding of the importance of plants in our lives. Each 90-minute session will include the themes of sustainability, interconnectedness and culture to encourage respect for the natural environment, and will focus on the importance of plants for food, fibre, construction, or medicine.  Please contact Anneke Mace, our Botanic Gardens Educator, for bookings.

Get Your Students Engaged with Nature

The website NatureWatch has guides for teachers that can be tailored to your particular school or project.  It is a place where you can share what you see in nature, set up citizen science and community-based monitoring projects, meet other nature watchers, and learn about New Zealand's natural history.  The Zealandia BioBlitz 2017 on 26 and 27 February is a great introductory activity for students, or you can opt to do a smaller scale activity as St Peters School did.
