Open data: helping you deliver better services

This year has already provided a lot of us with a unique and challenging start to the year! As we keep our eyes fixed on global events, open data remains at the forefront of maintaining transparent and accountable governments.

Our office is suddenly much quieter after a few shifts over the past month:

  • Our Director, Suzanne Townsend, has moved to a permanent position with Morrison Low & Associates
  • Cam Findlay finished up working on projects for us at Christmas & has a new role as Senior Product Manager with Department of Internal Affairs (read more below)
  • Tamara Novak's very able assistance as our Digital Advisor sadly finished at the end of January & she's shifted over to help LINZ's Geospatial team for the next while.

Tribute to Julian Carver

Our hearts go out to family and friends of Julian who passed away 2 January. Julian was an integral part of NZ’s open government data journey as a long time open government advocate. Julian made a real difference through his work on the Declaration of Open and Transparent Government and the New Zealand Data and Information Management Principles. Julian will be sorely missed by the open data community.

Cam Findlay's new role

We're excited to announce that Cam has a new role with DIA as Senior Product Manager. His work includes working on the development of data.govt.nz. We're looking forward to continuing working with him in this new capacity. Cam has worked with our team over the past six months on development of NZGOAL - Software Extension and the Open Data Charter Consultation.
