Be watchful and strengthen what remains.....

  “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him;” (Psalm 37:7)

    Rest – what a great idea.  In this fast paced, consumer driven society, this word stands as a beacon of light amidst the ever crashing waves of uncertainty and anxiety.  Rest is not only a great idea, but it was God’s idea first.  God knows our weakness, our frailty; He knows our need to rest.  Some think they know better than God and press forward with stimulants to keep up the restless pace encouraged by those around them.  Eventually health and age prove what God had always prescribed; rest is necessary for own health and general well-being.
    “Rest in the LORD” – Lasting rest is found in the Lord.  Medication, meditation and sleep might bring temporary relief, but lasting rest is only found in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  Jesus himself promised;
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  (Matthew 11:28-29)
    If you have been trying to keep up with a pace that is unhealthy and would like to know more about the rest that is found in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, feel free to contact me or come out to our Sunday morning services here at the Camp.

No Family Day at the Lake
    We are taking a rest from “Family Day at the Lake” this year.  We are looking forward to offering this event in 2018.  We are also looking forward to a wonderful camping season and seeing all of you throughout the summer.  Our camps are posted online and open for registration at slwc.ca.

Summer Staff Applications
    Every year we hire about thirty summer staff to serve here at Silver Lake.  If you are interested, or know someone who might be interested in this opportunity you can apply online, beginning March 1st through to March 31st.  There are three requirements for those who would be interested in applying;
  1. You must be at least 15 years old.
  2. You must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is evident to those who know you.
  3. You must have a desire to see others come to know Jesus personally or grow in their relationship with Him.
    If this describes yourself or someone you know, we would invite you to apply during the month of March.  No previous camp experience is required.  Training is provided.

With Love,
The Gosse Family

Volunteers Make Camp Possible!

Join us any time from April 24th to 30th for our Spring Work Bee! You can stay for the whole week, or just for an afternoon, it's up to you. There are projects for all ages and skill-sets. You will be surprised how it blesses you to be a part of it!

Food and lodging will be provided, but we need to know you're coming ahead of time to prepare. Contact the office at office@slwc.ca / 1-877-511-2267 to let us know when you will be coming to help out.

Can't make it to the Work Bee, but interested in volunteering at the Camp this year? Keep an eye on our
Volunteer Opportunities page on our website, or contact the office to ask about opportunities to serve.

Weekly Fellowship

On Sunday, October 16th we began meeting weekly, here at Silver Lake, for fellowship, prayer, study of God’s word, and celebration of the Lord’s sacrifice.  What a wonderful blessing it has been to us as a family.  We would like to invite you to join us.  Service begins at 10:00 am in the Carswell Retreat Centre (the WARM building at the top of the hill), followed by a lunch meal together.  Please contact us to let us know that you will be attending.  We have been enjoying some wonderful times together in His presence.

In His Service,

Paul and Aimee

Registration is open! Visit slwc.ca for more details

Prayer Notes

  • Please pray for the weekly fellowship that has begun meeting this past Fall at SLWC
  • For the Camp's staff, leadership and community as we prepare for the busy season of 2017
Silver Lake has launched Phase 1 of the 'Re•new•all' Capital Campaign to 'renew' the many infrastructural needs at the Camp. The funds of the campaign are going to be directed to providing upgraded, winterized facilities, enabling us to serve more groups, in more months of the year. More information is available on our website by clicking here.

The Renewall Committee releases a periodical report updating the progress on these projects. If you would like to be included in the mailing list to receive this report, email Jake at
Jake@slwc.ca

Featured Testimonial

A passion for SLWC and the life change it brings to families has been inherited from my parents and has passed on to my children and now onto my grandchildren. When I turn my car onto the grounds each spring, my heart is warmed and I know that I have entered "holy" ground.
