The project in Uganda is doing well; we have given out hundreds of microcredits already in 2017, the team is growing, and the demand for more microcredits is overwhelming!

Last year we upgraded our IT systems in Uganda to be able to use mobile money and other technology in our microfinance project. This enabled us to reach women in remote villages, who never before had access to financial services. Unfortunately this update also broke the link with www.microbanker.com, and you could no longer track the progress of the women you supported. It took us a while (outside of Uganda we work only with volunteers) to rebuild the site, but it's back - and better than ever! With our new IT systems, we will gradually be able to give you more feedback on your donations: what the women are investing in, how their income and well-being levels are impacted, and more.

Today, you will receive an email to reset the password of your account, with your existing email address as username. We have put the original amount you donated as 'credits' in your account (you can find those credits in 'My porftolio', or use them during check-out on the site). You can use those credits to support new entrepreneurs on the website, follow their progress, and recycle their repayments to new microentrepreneurs. We hope that this website will continue to show the potential of microfinance in the most direct way possible.

We were unable to migrate over the details of the original microcredits you supported into your new portfolio. The project is doing very well though, and chances are that the women you supported have repaid their original microcredit, taken out a new one to expand or diversify their business, and are investing the profits in their families. We have now given out >13,000 microcredits, at >95% repayment. In the first month of 2017 alone, we have disbursed hundreds of microcredits. We have added more members to our full-time team of Ugandan loan officers, who work in the field every day to reach women who never before had access to financial services.

The demand is still overwhelming: thousand more women want small loans to invest in tiny businesses and work on that first step on the ladder out of poverty. Please tell your friends about www.microbanker.com, we can use all the support we can get!
