Spread the Word! The Colorado Service-Learning Council AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates Program seeks host sites!
Applications due by 11:59 MST, February 24th
The Colorado Service-Learning Council and Campus Compact of the Mountain West are pleased to announce the CSLC AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates program. Summer Associates is a national service program that engages volunteers in a 10 week (May 28-August 5, 2017) intensive summer service experience that addresses identified community needs. CSLC Summer Associates will be placed with K-12 schools, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies to design and facilitate service learning activities for K-12 students participating in community-based summer enrichment programs. Associates will work with their host site to co-design activities that support programs and curriculum based on the needs of the organization. To apply to be a host site, click here.

Jamison and New York Times Bestselling author Kelsey Timmerman co-founded The Facing Project as a way to (re)connect people through stories to strengthen communities. Hailed by The Huffington PostHarlem World MagazineNPR, and Soul Train as one of three oral history projects to watch, The Facing Project provides a model, tools, and a platform for communities to arm themselves with stories to begin crucial conversations on social justice issues—neighbor to neighbor, community to community—by discussing solutions and exploring healing through their own narratives.For more information or to register, click here.

The 2017 Continuums of Service Conference will empower students, faculty, administrators, and community partners to embrace a commitment to advance civic and community engagement for a just, equitable, and sustainable future. Newman Civic Fellowship
 The Newman Civic Fellowship is intended to honor the leadership legacy of Frank Newman by recognizing community-committed students who:

  • Engage in collaborative action with others from campus or from surrounding communities in order to create long-term social change
  • Take action in addressing issues of inequality and political polarization
  • Demonstrate the motivation and potential for effective long-term civic engagement

Institutions may only nominate one student per year. All nominations are due by 11:59 PM EST on March 3, 2017, and the online nomination form can be found here.  

Save the Date: 2017 Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award Nominations
 Applications for the 2017 Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award will open on April 3, 2017. he Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award recognizes one senior faculty member (post-tenure or middle-to-late career at institutions without tenure) each year. Honorees (who must be affiliated with a Campus Compact member institution) are recognized for exemplary engaged scholarship, including leadership in advancing students’ civic learning, conducting community-based research, fostering reciprocal community partnerships, building institutional commitments to service-learning and civic engagement, and other means of enhancing higher education’s contributions to the public good. Seeking Applications for Summer Intensive on Community Engaged Scholarship
Michigan State University, June 5-9, 2017 

 MSU's Office of University Outreach and Engagement welcomes faculty, academic staff, and advanced graduate students to five days of workshops, dialogue, and field trips focused on community engaged research and community engaged teaching and learning, including service-learning and community-based research in courses.
