On the coldest nights, we succeed...
Thanks to YOU!

While we serve fewer clients during the winter, the need for warm clothing and blankets is undoubtedly higher, as the frigid nights are unrelenting to our clients. Getting into the city to deliver necessities is more important than ever in January and February, and as usual we have many people to thank for their help in making our twice-weekly drives happen.

A huge THANKS from every single volunteer who goes on the van to GT Arbuckle on Great Plain Avenue in Needham (down by the Hersey stop) for offering us rock bottom pricing for our recent van repairs. We operate on a lean-and-mean budget and keeping the van in good shape is a top priority. We shopped around and asked many local businesses to cut us a break on pricing, and GT Arbuckle stepped up. We appreciate this generosity!

Thank you to Gillis Dental for the donated toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well as the Weeks, Plotner and Carter families for the clothing and toiletry donations. Every single donation has already gone to use.

Another amazing THANK YOU to the families at Mitchell School. The PTC Community Service Committee organized another amazing Sandwich Making event on their recent early release day. Check out the students and parents in the photo below. Also THANK YOU to St. George's and Eliot School for their ongoing efforts to fill our sandwich needs every week.

THANK YOU to new van volunteers, Sandi and Mark Norman, as well as returning riders Paul Keefe, Al Posada, Terry Windhorst, Arden Mason, Tracy Zinner and our committed board members. Can you take a ride on the van to help deliver supplies to those living on the street? We have openings available in late February and throughout March - April on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Please email gm.vanvolunteers@gmail.com for details and to sign up.

We're Raising $$ for 2017-1018 - Can You Help?
For more than twelve years, volunteers from Generic Ministry have traveled the streets and alleys of Boston on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings distributing food, water, clean clothes, blankets and toiletries to the homeless. Along with these items, we supply friendship, respect and encouragement.

Accomplishing our weekly runs into Boston is no small task, as it involves finding two volunteers per night to drive the van, plus a team to prepare for each trip, an additional team to sort and label the many clothing contributions we receive, and separate groups to make 60-80 bag lunches each week.

We often hear from our clients how much they miss us on the weeks that we are not there, not just for the food and clothing, but also for the friendly face and the chance to chat a little. We’re ready and willing to keep the mission growing, but we need your help.

We operate on an extremely small annual budget of $10,000, which covers the cost of operating and maintaining our van and other necessary purchases.

Please donate generously and help us sustain our service to the less fortunate.

Our mailing address is below, or you can donate online via the Network for Good link on our homepage at http://genericministry.org.

Our sincerest thanks for your consideration.

Families from Mitchell Elementary School donate their time on an early release day to make over 100 sandwiches for us to deliver that week. Thank you to the Mitchell community for their continuous support!
