Welcome to Warm-up Week
View this email in your browser

Hello Adventurers,

Welcome to the Brain Chase Fall Learning Challenge! On Monday, February 13, at exactly 3pm Eastern, the Warm-up Week begins. Your goal: to get comfortable with the Student Dashboard and the different electives so you'll be ready to hit the ground running on February 20, when the first animations are released.

Here are a few questions we're hearing:
  • What is the "Warm-up Week?" The Warm-up Week is our way of letting you get familiar with the different programs, switch or upgrade electives, ask any questions, and basically get the lay of the land, all without the pressure of the actual treasure hunt. All of the challenges are dramatically simplified... but don't worry - things will pick up next week.
  • Where is the email with my login information? You'd be surprised how hard it is to get past email filters these days. If we missed you, send us a note at info@brainchase.com and we'll take care of you. And please add us to your safe list!
  • Will we be getting a package in the mail? Yes... very soon (unless your school has opted not to receive them!). But first, we need your mailing address, even if you're a previous Brain Chase participant. If you're with a school, we'll only need the school's address. Just log in to your Parent or Guide dashboards and fill in the blanks. You won't be at any disadvantage if it takes a few extra days to get your package. Just relax, and let the Postal Service work their magic. This one's worth the wait.
  • I'm having trouble syncing an account. Can you help? Of course - that's what the Warm-up week is all about. Brain Chase links to several independent software platforms, and integration can be an adventure. Just follow the instructions provided, and email us if you're having trouble.
  • We haven't logged in yet - are we behind? Not at all! The first clues will be released with the animations on Monday, February 20. And remember - two of our past winners missed multiple weeks of the program, then caught up when they returned. You're not behind.
Have another question we didn't touch upon? Check out our FAQ page or email us at info@brainchase.com. We're standing by to help.

Good luck!

Upgrading Your Electives

One goal of the Warm-up Week is to allow you to sample the different electives. If your lineup doesn't feel quite right, you still have the option to upgrade or change your selections on the Parent Dashboard.

In each student's account on the Parent Dashboard, you'll find a list of the electives you purchased at registration. You may select three of these. To add more options to this list, you'll need to scroll down and select other electives you'd like to add. After you upgrade, these electives will appear in the list of available options.

Questions? email us at info@brainchase.com.

Catching up with Mae

Joining us for the first time? Click here to meet Mae Merriweather and her team from the Grayson Academy of Antiquities.

This Spring, the academy is searching for an artifact called "The Mask of Tomoe Gozen," a relic of an ancient samurai warrior known for her skill, intelligence, and beauty.
What You're Searching For

The Mask of Tomoe Gozen is real, mechanical, gold-plated trophy, and it's buried in the ground somewhere on planet Earth right now. Each Brain Chase treasure hides the key to a bank account holding $10,000.

Just how does a mask hold a key? Watch this short video to find out.

Supply Lists

Be sure to check the Elective Pages for weekly supply lists. Since this is the warm-up week, we're keeping it simple. For art, engineering, and cooking, the only supplies you'll need this week are a pencil a paper.

Remember, the goal this week is to simply help students understand the process for getting assignments and submitting their work - next week, the real challenge begins!
Discussion Guides

For those of you hosting a Brain Chase group, we've created discussion guides to help you structure your meetings.
