A Visit with Author Patty Lakin

Saturday, February 18 @10:30am
Patty Lakin, one of our favorite authors (a favorite neighbor, too!) visits Bank Street Book Store February 18 at 10:30 am for Saturday story time. Patty has written many children's books that already fill our shelves, and now there are new titles to add among them: Skateboards and Bicycles. These two titles are part of a series of books about everyday objects beautifully designed, crafted by hand, and of great interest to readers from 8 to 12 years old. Hear Patty reveal the secrets of good design through words, photographs, and illustrations that create understanding and appreciation. Patty will also talk about Steve Jobs: Thinking Differently, a biography she wrote that is newly available in paperback. For the youngest listeners, Patty will share one of her delightful Max and Mo stories, making this event truly fun for all ages.

Author Jackie Azúa Kramer Imagines a Green Umbrella

Saturday, February 25 @ 10:30am

An umbrella is just an umbrella, right? Not so, insist Hedgehog, Cat, Bear, and Rabbit. The animals suggest, "Isn't it a boat? A tent? A flying machine? A cane?" It is up to everyone's friend Elephant to consider just what his green umbrella can be in this picture-book ode to imagination called The Green Umbrella. Meet author Jackie Azúa Kramer and hear her read her book at morning story time. Jackie will sign copies for anyone who thinks, creates, and imagines big.
