Dear colleague,

following our first announcement, we would like to share with you a few important updates concerning the 27th European Childhood Obesity Group Annual Congress (#ECOG17) that will take place in Rome from the 15th to 17th of November 2017.

Please pin the following important dates down in your diary:

June 30th (abstract submission deadline)
May 15th (Early BIRD registration deadline)

Preliminary Programme (NEW!) and... Pope Francis' General Audience (NEW!)
We are delighted to inform you that a preliminary programme is now available here. We have contacted a dozen of renowned international speakers and will be able to list them in our next update.
Please note that the congress's working language is English and no translation into Italian or other languages will be provided.

In addition, on November 15th at 10.00 we have secured participation to Pope Francis' General Audience in the Paul VI Audience Hall in the Vatican City. Participation is reserved to ECOG delegates and their registered accompanying persons. For security and booking reasons, in order to attend, interested delegates should confirm their intention to participate by providing their names and nationality by May 1st at the latest.

Abstracts NEW DEADLINE!
The abstract submission deadline is 30th June 2017.

All approved abstracts will be published in Acta Paediatrica, if the first author attends the congress. Each first author can submit maximum one abstract.
Among all the approved abstracts:
11 abstracts will be selected for oral presentations.
24 abstracts will be selected for poster sessions.

In order to submit your abstract, please follow the registration link below and complete your registration with the payment of the abstract fee (25€). Only abstracts for which the payment is received will be assessed.

Abstract submitters will be informed about the result of the evaluation of their abstract in late July/early August 2017.
Please note that if your abstract is submitted before 15/05/2017 (EARLY BIRD deadline) and is approved you can benefit of the EARLY BIRD registration fee.

ECOG brings together experts from across the board including: paediatricians, psychologists, nutritionists, geneticists, physical activity experts, economists and many more. The group was founded in 1991 and its mission is to help the European community at large to understand fully the health, social, psychological and economic impacts of childhood obesity, and work together to take this growing problem "off the menu" in Europe.
