AFTER SCHOOL ROSARY- Every Friday students, families, faculty, and staff are invited to meet at the Mary statue in the main school building after carpool for a rosary. (This will begin at approximately 3:30.) This is a great opportunity for all of us to share in our devotion to Mary and to offer prayers personally, as a school and parish community, and for the nation and the world. There will be prayer guides provided.
STEPS FOR STUDENTS – Steps for Students will be held THIS SATURDAY, February 18, 2017. This is the 12th Annual event and registration is open! Our Queen of Peace goal is to have 100% student/family participation. The first class reaching 100% participation will receive a pizza party. he top boy and top girl raising the most money will also be awarded a prize. In addition, each Wednesday from now until the Steps for Students event, all registered students have a free dress day.
This year we plan for a great gathering in the Catholic School Village on race day. Let’s show the entire Archdiocese how great we are at Queen of Peace Catholic School!  We are asking each class if you could donate snacks for Step for Students by Friday, February 17, 2017.
If you bring fruit, please bring them on Friday, February 17.

Kinder/1st- a box granola bars
2nd-bag of apples
3rd/4th- bunch of bananas
5th/6th- 12 ct. case of water
7th/8th- a pack of juice box
GO TEXAN DAY – Friday, March 3rd, students will be able to dress in GO TEXAN western attire. Please do not send any weapons, real or pretend with children. Also, if they wear boots please make sure they have been worn previously so the children do not slip and fall in them, and so they remain comfortable throughout the day.
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM- Queen of Peace Catholic School uses the Camp Innovation after-school program. Attached to this newsletter is a registration form for the afterschool program. The procedure for Queen of Peace Catholic School is that students who remain on campus after 3:30, and do not have a scheduled activity, will wait for their parent or carpool pickup in the afterschool program room. Camp Innovation accepts payment upon pickup for daily drop-in students and monthly for regular attendees. If payment is not made to Camp Innovation, the student will be sent to the office and parents will be charged by the school for the late pickup.
SPRING FESTIVAL – The Queen of Peace Parish Spring Festival is April 30th. All students received raffle tickets to sell for the festival. All money and ticket stubs should be returned to the school office. The first class to turn in raffle ticket sales will get a pizza party!
THIRD QUARTER VIRTUE – During the third quarter of school we will focus our attention on the virtue of joy. Students will be asked to not only identify what brings them great joy but to also look for ways they can bring others joy. Joy is a wonderful gift from God and is meant to be shared. How can you and your family share joy with others?

VISITORS AND VOLUNTEERS – As a reminder, all visitors must sign in at the school office. If you plan to volunteer with our students, you must be Virtus trained and have a cleared background check with the Archdiocese.

Wednesday, March 1st is Ash Wednesday. I encourage any parent who can make it to join us for mass that morning at 8:30 a.m. This is the day the season of Lent begins. Your children will be reviewing Lenten practices in religion classes.
The state accreditation visit is scheduled for February 28th – March 3rd. This visit takes place every seven years. Please keep the faculty and staff in your prayers throughout this week and in the weeks leading up to our visit. They are working hard to prepare for the visit.
