Sunday March 5th! Organizational Planning Meeting!

We are at a point in the NYC REIC's trajectory where we are actively considering investment projects, thinking about fundraising, and generally deciding what the NYC REIC is going to look like in the near future.

To make sure the NYC REIC develops intentionally and with member input, the Founding Board is hosting a facilitated organizational planning session. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP here by February 27, 2017.

As this will be a sequential, facilitated meeting, please commit to attending the full four-hour session. After you RSVP, a facilitator will be in touch with you by email with more information.

Help the NYC REIC find projects to invest in, in your neighborhood!

We are the city itself deciding which places to invest in. Are there remarkable places in your neighborhood that are well-loved, well-cared for, helpful or needed, that we want to make sure we can keep? Do they, or could they possibly, pass through the first gate? (Read more about the first gate here).

If so, send the place’s name and address to saveit@nycreic.com, with contact information for the place’s people like a phone number if you have it - or call us at (718) 316-6092 x5. New York is definitely not for sale, but that won’t stop us from pooling our money and power to buy it back!

Founding Board Report-Back

CORB: Community Outreach & Relationship Building
The former PBIG: Public Buildings Inventory Group seeks new members with great community organizing skills. We are looking for those who can help us build our community engagement model and educate the membership in best practices in how to reach out to communities and work together with them, in a horizontal, democratic, grassroots way. Art & Media
We are in the final phases of creating a new graphic identity for the REIC, with huge thanks to Roy Rub and Seth Labenz of Topos Graphics for their pro bono work! We presented the two directions we are looking at, at the All-Member Meeting - and will be asking for your feedback soon! READ MORE!

Become a Member

There are 4 requirements for active membership in NYC REIC:

  1. Reading and signing the member agreement;
  2. Contributing a membership fee of $10;
  3. Attending a quarterly All-Member NYC REIC meeting (next chance: June 28, 2016!);
  4. Endeavoring to conduct membership in accordance with the principles of cooperation.
