Chief Hazy Cloud Expansion

This December the Kent County Parks Department was awarded a $2,152,000 grant to purchase 145 acres of land next to Chief Hazy Cloud Park in Ada. This acquisition doubles the size of the park while adding an additional mile of frontage along the Grand River.
Chief Hazy Cloud Park is one of our earliest parks and was the first park in Ada Township. For decades people have been enjoying the scenic views of the Grand River and an assortment of outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, and picnicking. This expansion is an impressive step towards preserving the natural beauty of the Grand River while expanding trail connections and recreational opportunities for our region.

Featured Park: White Pine Park

White Pine park has been part of our park system since 1927, when the first 20 acres were acquired to preserve one of the only remaining stands of White Pines in the county. Since then he park has tripled in size and offers a unique and rustic environment ready for exploration.
White Pine Park offers rare trails that have a uncommon but simple feel to them and are ready to discover. Visit the Kent County Parks Department's website to learn more about this unique park!

Please join the Kent County Parks Foundations for Parks Matter! on April 19th from 7:30am - 8:30am at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. Get up to date information on exciting projects that are on the horizon to expand and enhance our county parks thanks to the foundation’s continued partnership with the Kent County Parks Department.
This year we are excited to welcome the Grand Rapids Dirt Dawgs as our special guests. The Grand Rapids Dirt Dawgs is a non-profit mountain bike organization for kids that use Luton Park for their activities and focuses on inspiring kids to have adventures outdoors, build self-esteem, and teaches the importance of living an active and healthy lifestyle as well as trail stewardship. We can't wait to hear the children share how mountain biking at Luton Park has made a positive impact on their lives.
