Quintarelli ancora con Nissan e Nismo per il Super GT 2017

February 19th, 2017

Ronnie Quintarelli will be entering his 10th Super GT season under the Nissan banner this year, renewing his relationship with the Japanese manufacturer and with the Nismo Official Team. He will be rejoined aboard the #23 Nissan GT-R GT500 by Tsugio Matsuda. The car was revamped in accordance to the 2017 Super GT regulations and will carry an historical number: 23 is pronounced "ni-san" in Japanese and the 23 number has always been tied with Nissan in the company's motorsports endeavours. In terms of the tires, the team will continue to rely on Michelin rubber, replicating the same combination that cruised to back to back titles in 2014 and 2015.

Following the ill-fated 2016 finale at Motegi, when they were forced to surrender the title after leading the pack throughout the season, Quintarelli and Matsuda will go for a rebound in a series that will once again feature works efforts by the top Japanese car manufacturers and, in an unique feature in racing, full competition between some of the world’s leading tire manufacturers.

The Nismo Official Team will soon be on-track for collective testing before the opening round of the season, scheduled for the 9th of April at Okayama.

Ronnie Quintarelli
"I am extremely delighted to be once again part of the Nismo Official Team and to continue representing Nissan for 2017. After missing the title in the final round of 2016 at Motegi, we are as determined and prepared as ever to keep fighting at the top. All the key personnel within the team will be back for the new season and I'm sure that, together with Matsuda-san, we will be able to fight for the title until the end again this season. The goal for me will be to score my fifth series title, improving the record I set in 2015. I can't wait to start preseason testing and to go back on-track for the first round of the season at Okayama."
