Sister's Bible Study
Sisters Bible study will be gathering to discuss our winter book, What's So Amazing About Grace? by Phillip Yancey - on Tuesday, March 7 at 4:45 pm in the parlor (room G-2).

Women of all ages are invited to be a part of the next series on beginning Tuesday, March 14 at 4:45 pm in room G-2, using the book Mosaic: When God Uses All the Pieces, by Shane Stanford. This is a Lenten study that will carry us through Easter.

Here's more about the book:

In this Lenten study, popular author Shane Stanford examines how the God of the universe uses the broken pieces of our lives to reframe our purpose, turning our discarded hopes and dreams in to something beautiful and useful - a mosaic in which God uses all of the pieces. The author says, "This journey will take us along the same path Jesus walked in the days before and days along his own journey to Jerusalem. We will see the similarities to our own stories and the lessons we should pick up, like pebbles along the path."

The cost of the book is $10, and books will be available in the church office later next week. If you need child care for young children, be sure to contact Marti Patterson at childed@firstumcfranklin.org. For additional information, contact Margaret Freeman at assocpastor@firstumcfranklin.org.

Penny an Inch

Every year the children of First United Methodist Franklin participate with the Famine program by collecting pennies to help feed the hungry of Macon County by raising funds for CareNet.  Once again we are participating in “a Penny an Inch” by measuring our height and bringing pennies or change for that amount.  We would like to invite you to participate with us.  Perhaps you would share this information with friends and family because the children really enjoy seeing where the letters and cards come from especially those who are far away or from a different country.  We read each note and locate donors on our map.
The instructions are easy, measure your height (ex 5’ 8” - $.68) and tape coins onto a card or letter and write a brief note to our children telling them where you live and mail it to:

First United Methodist Church
Attn: Marti Patterson
66 Harrison Ave.
Franklin, NC  28734

For those of you who are local, you can place them in my mailbox in the church office. On Sunday, Feb 26th, the children will open the letters and cards and separate the coins. Thank you so much for making this event special to our children and a blessing to our community.

Notes from the Church Office

A special "Thank You" from the Worship Ministry to all FUMC members and staff who contribute altar flowers or lend us objects to enhance our altar at Sunday services.  We also extend our thanks to the other individuals, businesses, and organizations who have graciously lent or donated items to be used on our altar.  Thank you to Marcia Roland, Lisa Robles, Tracy Hagan, Nest Feathers Antiques, Eastside Florist, Macon County Library, Macon County Historical Museum, South Macon Elementary School, Clarks Chapel Methodist Church and anyone we have inadvertently omitted.  We sincerely appreciate your contributions.
Ushers Needed!

Please see Bob Gibson or contact the Church Office to assist with ushering during Sunday morning worship time.
Welcome New Faces

Do you ever see someone new at church?  Do they look a little lost?  Then introduce yourself and welcome them.  We are all part of God's family.
