Magdalen Road Church have recently been informed the Irving building has been put back on the market with new conditions of sale. You will remember from previous messages that we have been anticipating the re-marketing from mid-October 2016. Now we know the new conditions of sale, we are considering our approach for the bid submission deadline of the 7th April.
The new conditions of sale more clearly specify an alignment with both the Irving trusts deeds and supporting the local community (download property particulars). This brings the sale more in line with the principles we were considering in our original bid, but outlines quite specific details of what the trust feels deliverers these community benefits
MRC’s priority is to be a part of our community, not primarily to buy a building. The decision to make a bid for the Irving Building is motivated by our intention to better serve the people of East Oxford by providing more space and flexibility for community activities than our current premises allows, but whatever the final result of the Irving Building process we will continue to seek to live more closely with, and in, our local community.
