Discussion Question: Should lean professionals use Japanese names for lean tools and techniques or their own language?
In researching lean and continuous improvement topics, this issue of using or not using the Japanese names for lean terms and has ignited debate with other lean communities. Some of the questions include:
- Does using another language promote waste within a system of learning and development?
- Is it efficient or effective for the process?
- Does this eliminates or adds waste when using other languages?
- What is the standard industry practice for lean names?
