Recently Walmart announced Free 2-day Shipping

Walmart has challenged Amazon by introducing FREE 2-day shipping. Amazon has "free" 2-day shipping if you subscribe to Amazon Prime for $99 per year. Amazon Prime also offers streaming of movies, TV shows, and music, and photo storage. So if you need those things, it is a good deal. Even Prime members sometimes have to pay a $5.99 shipping charge for the "Prime Pantry Service." It is not obvious which items fall into Amazon's Prime Pantry category, but it is typically low-cost household items such as toiletries and groceries.

Now, Walmart has totally FREE 2-day shipping on all orders of $35 or more. However, on orders under $35, you can pick these orders up free at the pickup counter at your nearby Walmart Store. More and more, I am finding that local stores don't carry all of the items I want or some of the brands I prefer. Fortunately, I can usually find these online, and quite often they are so inexpensive that I refuse to pay shipping which doubles the price. For cases like these, I end up either using Walmart free shipping or Walmart's free in-store pickup.

Most ARSStore.org customers prefer Amazon, but for some items Walmart offers a better deal. If you want to avoid paying for Amazon Prime, then you have a new option. Amazon still has the widest variety of merchandise. They both offer items from third party vendors. Walmart has a wider variety of grocery items. The choice is yours. Whether you prefer Amazon or Walmart, both are available at ARSStore.org and pay comparable fees to the ARS on all items bought through ARSStore.org.

Due to the possibility that the ARS would loose most of the over 5.6% it typically receives on each purchase and also the probability that the wrong one of the 55 different ARS 501(c)(3) numbers could be used, use of AmazonSmile is too risky. Let’s only use ARSStore.org and not AmazonSmile and get over 5.6% rather than hoping we get 0.5%.
