Canned sweet

As we type, we're watching half of South London fly past our window and making every excuse not to go outside. Doris is, indeed, a day to stay in and sit out the storm with some good food and drink.

The beers pictured above bring together exactly those things - food and drink, or as Norwegian brewery Amundsen calls it, Dessert In A Can. Our mouths were watering so much at the prospect of these new beers that we thought we'd round up some more of our after-dinner favourites for all you pudding lovers out there. Read on for our recommendations, the skinny on all this week's new stuff (heads-up - there's a LOT) and a beer and pizza pairing of dreams.
Just one more wafer-thin Mint Chocolate Crisp Imperial Stout?

Amundsen's new Dessert In A Can beers cover all the main pudding food groups in imperial stout form - Chocolate Marshmellow (sic), Chocolate Mud Cake and Mint Chocolate Crisp. Hey, if Wild Beer can make a mushroom sour, there's no reason you can't put mint in a beer...

Here are a few more of our favourite beers for lovers of decadence - they're not always as sweet as they sound, but they're definitely perfect for hunkering down with.

Oh yes, and through some sort of Faustian pact, Buxton and Omnipollo's Ice Cream Series is back. Who needs a soul anyway?
New stuff

The Scandinavian invasion continues with a big drop from Denmark's To Ol as well as Norwegian neighbour Amundsen.

From To Ol, we've brought back loads of the always-popular big cans. Choose from Mr Pink (a lychee and guava Berlinerweisse), Mr Blue (a blueberry saison), DIPA Underground (a Citra and Centennial hopped monster double IPA) or two more from To Ol's super sour series, Sur Sorachi Ace or Sur Citra. If you feel like upsizing, The Germs Are Coming is a perfectly punned bretted saison in 750ml format.

Amundsen's brewing prowess extends further than just desserts in cans. Just in, we can't wait to try Ink & Dagger IPA, Against The Grain collab Hoptropolis DIPA or Fear The Reaper, an exquisite-sounding triple barrel-aged impy stout that's rating off the charts.

In more #NewCanNews, Tiny Rebel has released HB&B favourites Cwtch, Cali and Clwb Tropicana in cans and at super-sharp prices. Cloudwater DIPA v12 is in, but is even more strictly limited this time around. We've also got Cloudwater's new Mittelfrüh Helles Lager which we suspect will be welcome news to a few of our lager-loving brewer pals.

Magic Rock releases its celebrated Fantasma IPA, a superb gluten-free beer you'd never guess was gluten-free. Beavertown brings back its birthday beer, Double Chin Double Neck Oil. And - again, be super quick - more new VerdantI Played Trumpet on That Tune IPA and 8 Mansions DIPA, a collab with Howling Hops. Can't keep these guys on the shelf right now.

We'll stop there or this newsletter will never end. For the full list, head to the Beer Menu on our website, check our Untappd page or see the Just Added section of our online shop to get the full details. To make sure the beers you want don't get away, order online and use the Pick Up at Shop option to reserve them (or get them delivered).

This week's pick: Hop Federation Double IPA

With so many double IPAs out there right now, it's easy to get caught up in the FOMO of the newest release. There's also a lot of focus on hazy, less bitter beers as everyone goes 'Vermont'. But as Matt Curtis reminds us, sometimes it's good to return to the dank, bitter West Coast style we know and love. This resinous beer - a riotous celebration of NZ hops - will see you right. ★★★★★

Coming up on flagon-fill...

The next few weeks will see a big focus on beers from our much-loved friends Marble in Manchester. We've brought down a pallet of beery goodness, including a bunch of amazing single hopped pale ales we can't wait to crack into.

You'll want to be quick to grab a flagon of The Kernel's iconic IPA Citra, and we demand you try some of Lost & Grounded's Running with Spectres Black Beer (not to be confused with Running with Sceptres lager). We had a great time hanging with the L&G guys at Beavertown's 5th birthday at the weekend and their beers are just so bloody good. Running with Spectres is one of our favourite beers of the moment.

Coming up, we've got three kegs from Cloudwater (IPA, IPL and DIPA v12), Salopian Kashmir and Verdant High Level Kink Pale Ale and 8 Mansions DIPA. So much great beer, so little time...

Check in any time to see what's pouring at our flagon-fill page on the website or on Untappd.
The Beer Lover’s Table: Cast Iron Skillet Pizza & Cloudwater IPL El Dorado Mosaic

Our food writer Claire Bullen solves that time-old dilemma of what to drink with pizza. Is it a lager? Is it an IPA? No, it's Cloudwater's super new IPL El Dorado Mosaic, an India Pale Lager that brings together the best of all worlds.

And, oh wow, just check out Claire's pizza recipe. If this isn't making you dribble a little right now, then you might just need to pinch yourself to check you're human. Don't be intimidated by the prospect of making your own pizza from scratch. While you will need to be patient for 24 hours for the dough to rise, as Claire says, "You don’t have to be Bake Off-worthy to master it - it takes less than 10 minutes to throw together."

Get cooking! And drinking...
