HUNGER LUNCH – ASH WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1st
Our tradition here at Assumption School is to mark the beginning of Lent with a school wide Hunger Lunch. Because Lent is a time for fasting, praying and almsgiving, our Hunger Lunch allows us to be a part of all of these Lenten practices. Assumption students will meet in the gym at 11:45 a.m. on Ash Wednesday for a special prayer service led by the Student Council. There they will all be given just a plain bun to eat for lunch. Students are asked to bring a donation that day equal to what they would normally spend on a lunch from a “take-out” restaurant or a hot lunch day. They are also welcome to bring their own water bottle from home. Our donations will be sent to The Holy Childhood Association. This is a Catholic Children's Mission Organization that helps children to make a difference in the lives of others. Because Holy Childhood has adult sponsors to help with their administrative costs, every single dollar we donate will go directly to help children around the world who really need it. In this way we will truly embrace the Lenten season with fasting, prayer and almsgiving. Thank you as always for your support.
A"Come to the Table" Thank You
The Student Council would like to thank all Assumption families who supported our spirit day on February 14th. We raised $350 for our parish's "Come To the Table" hot lunch program. We are very proud to support this beautiful program that gives both food and love to those in our community who need it.
