Still looking for Summer Youth Ideas?

by Amy Schenkel

We are just months away from the official start of the new mission agency (July 1), but the convergence of global and local ministry is already happening in our backyards.

Our Great Lakes team is partnering with Sherman Street CRC to host IMPACT club training for local churches.  IMPACT clubs are being used by CRCNA Missionaries around the world to empower young people in cities to lead and inspire positive change in their communities.  IMPACT helps youth learn to identify community problems, to think and work together to write and implement strategic projects that bring social change to their neighborhood.  Knowing that “our world belongs to God,” Sherman Street CRC is excited to help the youth in their neighborhood bring the redemption and restoration that God longs for in their community. new mission agency: What's happening?

The Board of Trustees of the Christian Reformed Church has recommended Rev. Zachary King to head its new mission agency. This recommendation will go to synod for ratification in June.

The search committee said in its report to the BOT, “Rev. King is a man of faith, with a passion for mission and church planting. He has significant cross-cultural experience and consistently demonstrates a posture of learning from those around him.”

Through this education and experience, King has developed a clear vision for the new mission agency.

“As a denomination, we will grow only insofar as we reach young people through our campus and youth ministry and only so far as we plant missional churches,” he said. “If we want a vibrant international mission, it won’t happen unless we also have those two things strongly in place.” Read More

Joining in His Victory

"Where O death is your victory? Where O death is your sting?" (1 Corinthians 15:55 NIV)

On April 16, 2017—Easter Sunday—we celebrate Christ’s victory over death and sin; a victory that is for all of His people!

Support that our churches give to Christian Reformed Home Missions helps people in Canada and the United States realize that they are part of Christ’s victory. God is on the move in North America. In congregations, campuses, neighborhoods, workplaces, families—together we seek to join God in mission.

For many churches across the denomination, Easter and Pentecost are the seasons when they schedule an offering to support Home Missions and World Missions. Whether your congregation will take an offering or not, we are pleased to offer free bulletin covers/inserts.

Prayer Focus

by Mary Sterenberg

Hebrews 10:24, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

Last month I invited to you to submit testimonies of how you see God moving in your churches.  Telling our stories is one of the most encouraging ways to spur one another on to love and good deeds.

Rev. Zach Olsen from East Leonard CRC shares this testimony of one of the ways the Lord has shown Himself in their midst recently.

“We are rejoicing in God’s mercy at East Leonard! Sue recently had been diagnosed with kidney failure. Read More
