Two thousand and seventeen is upon us and with it comes the promise of great growth and change within AAMB. As part of our expansion and growth, we’re excited to launch our inaugural quarterly e-newsletter.
Our goal is to:
  • highlight historical information.
  • share news of our programs and services.
  • report how we are using your donations.
We've taken the liberty of sending you this first issue of our new quarterly e-newsletter. If at any time you wish to unsubscribe, please use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this and every issue.

We want this newsletter to be valuable for you so please, please share your feedback and suggestions to help us improve.

Stay tuned as we embark on this glorious path to operating as a 21st century museum.

Happy reading and we wish you the best in 2017.

Giving Tuesday Campaign
We are ecstatic about the $1,945 that was donated. This was our first online fundraiser and although we didn't reach our goal of $5,000, we are very pleased. These contributions will help with our exhibit maintenance and programs. The campaign was held Nov. 29 through the end of the year.

AAMB Featured at dA Center for Arts
AAMB was invited to submit a collection to display at the dA Center for Arts in Downtown Pomona for their month of Pomona: People, Places, & Things. The mask collection was on display from December 10th through the 31st.

Book Signing with Debra Watkins
Award winning teacher, educator, founder of California Alliance of African American Educators (CAAAE) and A Black Education Network (ABEN) and a number of other educational efforts shared her  journey in education with her book, Thoughts Held Hostage: A Black Teacher's Journey of Unlocking Young Minds.

Kwanzaa
AAMB celebrated Kwanzaa with a Community Celebration & Economic Summit. Kwanzaa is a week long celebration of African heritage and values. The event offered food, vendors, music, workshops, and a special ceremony installing Baba Aleem Rahmaan: Chief of Inland Empire African Communities.

College Empowerment Summit
As part of the AAMB Kwanzaa celebration we partnered with the
William H. Douglas Foundation, Student Advocacy Group and hosted the first College Empowerment Summit 2016. The summit brought together HBCU college students past and present to have a real dialogue with high school students to promote, energize and inspire our young people to go to college.  This first summit is part of our continued efforts to increase the number of African American students who are admitted and graduate from higher education institutions.
