Tournament time
SMCC is hosting this year's YSCC basketball championships from Feb. 16-19 for the rights to attend the USCAA national tournament. The SMCC women's first game is at 2 p.m. Feb. 16, while the men play at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 17.

Boffing Club
Boffing Club members Mystie McManus, Nicholas Mitchell and Marcus Bowers strike sparring poses with their foam-covered sticks on a cold Jan. 31 afternoon. If you're interested in participating, the club meets from 3-5 p.m. every Thursday at the Captains House.

Snow days
February snowstorms have resulted in canceled classes and mountains of snow around campus. Kudos to our crews for cleaning up the mess. By Feb. 14, Portland had received nearly 35 inches for the month — or roughly six times the usual amount.

Player of the Week
Congrats to basketball standout Dylan Silvestri on being named USCAA national Division II Player of the Week in late January. For the week, Dylan had 31 points and eight rebounds in one game, and 18 points and 11 boards in the other.

PTK to show documentary
SMCC's Phi Theta Kappa chapter is launching an awareness campaign on opioid use and alternative pain management techniques. For the campaign, PTK is showing Macklemore's documentary "Prescription for Change," at 3 p.m. Feb. 16 in Jewett Auditorium.
