We ❤️ Hornsey Town Hall

Crouch End’s iconic Hornsey Town Hall and square are set for a multi-million pound restoration.

Haringey’s agreement with developers FEC secures the future of the Grade II* listed building, with a new arts centre; community access to the building; improvements to the Town Hall square; a boutique hotel; housing, and landscaping.

The plans include a commitment to ensuring the community can continue to enjoy access to the Town Hall, and a specialist arts operator will be brought on board to maintain its creative vibe.

Transforming Wood Green

We want your views on ambitious proposals to transform Wood Green into an exciting new town centre.

Outline plans show how the area could become a major destination for north London – with new shops, leisure facilities, office space, restaurants, public spaces and better transport and walking links.

The proposals come after early consultation on four broad options showed overwhelming support for bringing real change to the area. Now is your chance to help shape final plans.

Find out more and have your say on the Wood Green proposals.

Budget proposals

Haringey’s Cabinet team this week approved budget proposals for 2017/18 – including investment in libraries; roads and pavements, and support for elderly and disabled residents.

The plans also include introducing a three percent social care levy, which will be set aside to help meet spiralling costs and demand for social care.

Budget proposals will go before Full Council for a final decision later this month. You can find out more here.

New homes for Haringey

Plans for 260 new homes – including almost 200 affordable properties – at three sites across Haringey have been rubber-stamped by the council.

In Keston Road, Tottenham, 126 new properties built by Pocket Living will include 98 affordable one and two-bedroom homes, with sale prices guaranteed to be 20 percent cheaper than similar properties in the area.

At Monument Way, Tottenham, Newlon Housing will build 54 new homes, all available at affordable rents.

And on the Coppetts Wood Hospital site in Muswell Hill, Catalyst Housing will build 80 new homes, with more than half for affordable rent and shared ownership.

Haringey Development Vehicle – your questions answered

The recently announced Haringey Development Vehicle (HDV) underlines our commitment to delivering the investment, homes and regeneration that local people have told us they want to see in Haringey.

The HDV will be a 50:50 partnership between the council and a private property partner – allowing us to secure the investment we need without losing control over how developments take shape.

A full guide to the HDV is available here.
