February Worship is all about the boy called Jesus.  We will be exploring stories that are not included in the Lectionary and often never preached on.  What exactly happened after Jesus was born? Did you know he sassed his mom at 12 years of age? Join us on Sunday!
Dear Friends,

Even as I make my list for Trivia Night last minute details, my mind is really on this approaching season of spiritual reflection as we Journey to Easter.  This 40 day journey is called Lent but I know that many of you are unfamiliar with this season.  It begins on Ash Wednesday with our service being led by the church Youth at 7 pm.  Ash Wednesday is a somber service that reminds us of our limited time on earth. It challenges us to reflect on if we are really living-really breathing deeply every day. Then we are invited to remember Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness where he fasted and was tempted.  These 40 days (plus Sundays) leading to Easter are a time for us to be intentional about our spiritual life. 

Again, I will be writing a daily reflection for this season that will invite you to reading a scripture, being in centering prayer and doing some soul tending. New this year is an active spiritual practice of hiking that invites us to soak up nature and our connection to creation.  Bob Lund or I will be leading these hikes in the Tulsa County area. Those not affiliated with our church, or any church, are welcome to join us on these Journey Hikes. My sermons during this season will focus on Jesus inviting us to "Follow Me" and what that means. 

I don't know about you but I need to be reminded to do this soul tending and life reflection.  It is so easy to be controlled by our to-do list and worries.   I hope you will join me on this Journey to Easter.
