This Week's Sermon

On Sunday we'll continue our series Peter: Growing with Jesus with a sermon from Erik on Acts 4:8-22. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare for Sunday's service.

Happening this week

  • Enriching Marriage Part 2–Childcare RSVPs Needed ASAP: All are welcome–not just married couples. What are your goals for your marriage? What are God’s goals for your marriage? Part 2 of our Enriching Marriage course will take place THIS Sunday in the Fellowship Hall from 5:45pm to 6:30pm. A light dinner is provided. Please RSVP to Joshua Earman (joshua@citychurchrva.com). Childcare is available upon request, but please note: our childcare RSVP deadline has been moved to noon on Thursday in order to allow us time to recruit workers and assess space needs. Coming Up Soon

  • Summer Internships We are pleased to announce the return of our Summer Ministry Intern Program for 2017! As the church continues to grow, we have need for ministry help in several areas of church life: Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and Men's Discipleship Ministry. These internships also reflect our commitment to the continued development of leaders within the Church and for God’s Kingdom.   • Visit to Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia: We are organizing a group visit to Richmond's new Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia on Saturday, Feburary 25th at 11am. If you're interested in joining us, please email me (val@citychurchrva.com) so we know how many people to expect.
  • Ash Wednesday Service: We will hold a service in observance of Ash Wednesday on March 1st at 7pm at Beth Ahabah (1117 W. Franklin Street). All are welcome!
  • Conversation for the Common Good: On Thursday, March 16th, at 7pm, Common Good RVA will host Conversation for Common Good, a panel discussion during which we'll work to unpack the following questions: “How can dialogue in Richmond be shaped for the common good of all who live here?” and “What kind of conversations does it take to help Richmond become a city on a hill?” This panel event will include John Inazu, author of Confident Pluralism: Surviving and Thriving Through Deep Difference. We'll meet at The Fourhundred (400 W. 32nd Street). Admission is free!

Serving Our Community

  • Welcome, Baby Radcliff! Maxwell Craig Radcliff was born on Friday, February 10th, weighing in at 8 pounds, 15 ounces! We'll provide meals for Katie and Zach for several weeks at they adjust to life at home with their new baby boy.   • Jobs for Life: This spring, City Church will partner with Grace Covenant and STEP to host Jobs for Life, a 12-week, Christ-centered class dedicated to helping those in need of work. Weekly champions (peer mentors), prayer leaders (off-site), childcare providers, business professionals, and meal prep volunteers are all needed starting on Thursday, March 2nd.   • East End Pregnancy Center Training: On Saturday, February 18th from 9am to 3pm, East End Pregnacy Center (a City Church ministry partner) will offer a training session for those interested in ministering to and being a resource for women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. The training will take place at EEPC’s facilitiy, located at 4705 Nine Mile Road. For more information, contact Julie Davis at juliedavis1013@gmail.com.
  • Benefit for Freedom: Richmond Justice Initiative will be celebrating anti-human trafficking accomplishments with a Benefit for Freedom dinner on Tuesday, March 21st, at Stony Point Presbyterian Church. During this event we will honor the achievements of local heroes in the anti-trafficking community and support youth human trafficking prevention initiatives. All proceeds from the benefit will serve to directly reach more at-risk teens by equipping schools and youth programs with the tools needed to safely and effectively prevent, identify, report, and intervene in human trafficking situations.
