2015 National Building Code - Section 9.36
What it Means for Builders in Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan is currently the only province in Canada who has not yet adopted the National Energy Code, also known as Section 9.36 of the National Building Code (NBC). Although it's unknown whether the Government of Saskatchewan will be including Section 9.36 when it adopts the newest (2015) version of the NBC in the summer of 2017, we want to ensure that SRHBA members are prepared with the knowledge they need to work successfully with the new code.
The education session is designed to help builders like yourself understand what adopting Section 9.36 means for you, answering questions like:
- What is included in Section 9.36 that isn't in the code I'm using now?
- How will the changes to the code be enforced?
- What will I have to do to comply?
- Will I need to change the insulation that I use? Windows?
- Is it prescriptive or performance regulated?
- Will I have to change the way I build houses?
- How will I know whether I'm complying with the new code?
- Is it possible my homes already comply with the code?
- What if I'm already Energy Star rated?
- What information will I need to have on hand to demonstrate that I've built according to the new code?
