21st Annual Hal Rosoff Classic

The Hal Rosoff Classic once again was an exciting day to be at the NAC. The event attracted over 300 paddlers and had crafts of all different kinds on the water!

For all photos check out our albums on facebook!

The Hal Rosoff Classic continues to support the NAC Junior Outrigger Program, and you could see the kids around the entire day helping with set up, take down and food serving. The delicious Chili and Wild Rice Soup that all the racers were having was donated by Village Green Foods!

The 11 mile long course was the first race of the morning. It started right in front of NAC in a mass start of surfskis and outrigger canoes, jetted out of the harbor entrance and out to balboa pier where paddlers made a left hand turn and surfed back to the harbor entrance and continued on their way back to NAC. First across the line was Austin Kieefer on a surfski with a time of 1 hour 23 min. OC1 Winner Danny Ching finished the course in 1 hour 31 min. The WOW ladies jumped in a 6man and raced against the paddlers in the 11 mile course also!

The 5 mile SUP course started 15 minutes after the Long Course started and launched out to Balboa Pier and back! Rob Rojas finished the course in under 45 minutes. The Grom race and the Dory race also went during the long course. It was awesome to see so many juniors and first time racers paddle out for the grom race. As well as seeing the TWELVE Dory's that took to the water! Varsity Girls Assistant Coach NIck Dawe also raced in the dory division!

The Last race of the day was the 4 mile course that went up into the upper back bay, there were over 100 racers in this course! The Novice Junior Rowing Girls took the chance to jump in a triple hull outrigger and go out and race together!
Over the weekend our Executive Director, Billy Whitford, was given a replica of an Olympic Gold medal by 2x Olympic Gold Medalist and NAC Member Kriszta Zur for his years of support and dedication to helping Olympic Athletes accomplish their goals!

Olympic Coach, Rami Zur, has dubbed him the "Newport Beach Olympic Champion Creator and Supporter!"

Thank you Billy!
