We've all experienced times when we've ventured (or been led) so far from our own truth that we can no longer recognize our personal landscape or readily find our way back to it. The feelings that arise at these times range from disconcerting to terrifying.
Each of us responds to this situation differently. I've learned to look to my markers, which always guide me back to the deepest truth of who I am and what I know. Two of the most signficant ones are music and friends. I listen to a certain album, whose lyrics and melodies time and again call me back home to myself. Or I turn to a steadfast friend who reminds me of what I have forgotten about what is true for me. What are your markers?
