Dear Friends,

What I love about our Catholic faith is the understanding that faith and reason go hand in hand. Theology, the study of God, is so rich in our Catholic tradition and is taken very seriously. Theology can feed our minds as we ask questions, come to discover who God is and be a pathway towards knowing truth.

I see people wanting some teaching on how to apply what we believe. Sometimes it can stay in theory, and it makes very little sense in practical terms.

We are offering to everyone a half day of formation. There will be sessions that deal with how to live our faith by applying it to everyday experiences. For parents there will be sessions showing some important and practical ways to help your children in social media challenges and show how sacraments and liturgy touch the daily challenges of life. These sessions will help us take what we have learned and “put skin” to our theology. That is, to make it work in our lives. Please register now! (Remember, there is a free BBQ lunch for everyone at the conclusion!!!)

Families and adults who are preparing for sacraments as well as all ministers in all ministries are asked to attend, and it is open to the whole parish.

From now until March 11, you will be hearing constant reminders, video presentations about the day, more information on the talks and speakers and, of course, the free BBQ. We cannot be serious followers of Jesus unless we are formed and shaped by His ways. So our hope is that as many of you as possible will be here.

Peace in Christ,

Fr. Eric

CDA kicked off last weekend...

The work of the Charity and Development Appeal is love in action. It provides a unique opportunity to partner with and support the work of more than 70 organizations, programs and ministries of our Diocese. Together we do more, beyond what any one person or parish can accomplish alone. Answer the call of love and discipleship. Love as you have been loved and provide hope for thousands of families and individuals in need across our Diocese through your gift to the CDA. Our parish goal this year is $272,000 and 100% participation of parish families.

For more information and to make your donation online, click here. If you have any other questions, please contact Dan Minton at

In a special way, we lift up prayers for those in Family Initiation, who are having their retreat day this weekend.

Be Holy

“Be holy, for I, the Lord, your God, am holy.” ~ Our readings this weekend give us a big task! Thank God the psalm reminds us, “the Lord is kind and merciful.”

The readings tie holiness directly to right relationships with each other. Holiness is not achieved on our own, but in relationship with and care for others. God knew this, and sent Jesus to be in relationship with us, showing us the way.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “The word became flesh to be our model of holiness.” Jesus' life is our guide. The Second Vatican Council’s document, “Lumen Gentium,” says, “At all times and in every race God has given welcome to whosoever fears Him and does what is right. God, however, does not make [a person] holy, and save them merely as individuals, without bond or link between one another. Rather it has pleased [God] to bring [all] together as one people, a people which acknowledges [God] in truth and serves God in holiness.”

We are holy together! Jesus teaches this in the Gospel today and by His very life. Jesus’ call to love everyone, even our enemies, and God’s command, in the first reading, to love your neighbor as yourself show us how we live holiness.

St. Paul ties it all together, in the second reading, by reminding us that the Spirit of God dwells in each one of us. We belong to Christ, and in Christ we are united with each other. Everyone. Holy, as one.

This big task is achievable! ~ Let’s be holy by seeing Christ in ourselves, and in everyone we encounter.
