Mercury levels in yellofin tuna

U-M Research Finds Mercury in Ahi on the Rise

A former U-M researcher has found that mercury concentrations in yellowfin tuna increased about 5.5 percent per year between 1998 and 2008. Both yellowfin and bigeye tuna are marketed as ahi and are widely used in raw fish dishes—especially sashimi—or for grilling.

Vincent Smith

Former Wolverine, Smith, Planted in #EATING Effort

Former U-M football player and co-founder of Team Gardens #EATING, Vincent Smith, is doing his part in growing food where there is not enough, and impacting youth in local communities. Team Gardens has had three harvests in Pahokee, FL and this year branched out to Flint, MI. Future efforts will occur in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, and Dexter.
