The LINCOLN PARK SCOOP is your link to what's happening in Our Lincoln Park. Please do pass this along to your neighbors, because we we don't want anyone to miss a beat. Day-to-day happenings and upcoming events in Lincoln Park can also be found on our social media platforms (see below).

People are talking about the Lincoln Park neighborhood, and when we say that, we mean good talk. The opening yesterday of OMC Smokehouse at 1909 W Superior Street (see picture above) proves that people not only want to invest in Lincoln Park, but they are doubling down on it, too.

OMC Smokehouse owner Tom Hanson also owns the Duluth Grill on 27th Avenue. His decision to stay in Lincoln Park for his second restaurant came from both intention and pride, and he is excited to be part of the West Superior Street renaissance. “We really didn’t want to be in any other neighborhood. We just really enjoy this area," said Hanson.

There are a several businesses, organizations and individuals working on projects here in Lincoln Park. To give you a taste of what's to come, take a look at just a partial list of upcoming activities in Our Lincoln Park this year:
  • The Lincoln Park Business Group along with the City of Duluth 19th Av W Pocket Park project (see story).
  • Work begins at Lincoln Park this summer - including the play area and pavilions - in a combined effort by the City of Duluth, Ecolibrium3, US Bank, Essentia Health, and countless additional donors (watch for more about this project and how you can participate in upcoming Scoops).
  • Lincoln Park Children and Families Collaborative and Duluth Community Garden Program will complete work at Harrison Park this summer.
  • Events like the Northern Expressions Arts Collective's Egg-splosion, Bent Paddle's Festiversary, Bubble Fest at the Duluth Children's Museum, Lincoln Park Open House, Meet on the Street and the Lincoln Park Business Group's Walleye Tournament and Turkey Bingo will continue to draw people from outside of our neighborhood to experience the original thinking and downright fun that is causing so much buzz about our neighborhood.
Right now, the Our Lincoln Park Facebook page is the best place to see what's happening, but watch for an overhaul of the ourlincolnpark.com website coming soon for yet another way to connect to the neighborhood we call home.
PRETTYING THE POCKET PARK

We are fortunate to have many fine parks n Duluth. The Pocket Park at the corner of 19th Avenue West and Superior Street is a fresh spot of green in an otherwise urban area of our city, but it does need a little refreshing.

The Lincoln Park Business Group (LPBG) is leading the beautification efforts, which will begin this spring. In the meantime, they want to hear from YOU

Three input sessions will be held to gather neighborhood ideas for the beautification of the Pocket Park. One session will be held at Lincoln Park Middle School for the students, but the other two are for the general public. Please look at the times and dates below and get one on your calendar. You can come any time during the input session, and please do bring your family. The Pocket Park may be small, but the right touches can improve that spot for a sit-down on a nice summer day.  Check your calendars and share with your neighbors:

  • Monday, March 13            5:30 pm - 7:30 pm      Location to be determined
  • Thursday, March 17              5 pm - 7 pm        Ecolibrium3                    2304 W Superior St

Questions about the input sessions can be directed to shannon@ecolibrium3.org or call Shannon at 218 | 336 - 1038
