Memorial Celebration for Sasha Chernoff

Saturday, February 18, 1:00-5:00pm (off-site, Hilyard Community Center, 2580 Hilyard, Street, Eugene)

UUCE friend Sasha Chernoff, psychologist, teacher, clown, and friend, died on February 3, 2017.  All are invited to a memorial celebration of her life. A short program will begin at 2:00pm. Bring a potluck dish and your memories of Sasha to share.

SpiritJam

SpiritJam sessions are open to people of all ages. Participants start out in the Sanctuary for the first part of the church service and then go to the classrooms when the children are sung out at about 10:15am. The sessions on February 19 are:

Stewardship Cottage Meetings Sign-up

Sundays, February 19-26, 11:00am-noon (Lobby)  

It’s time again to review what it means to take care of our church. In small groups, you’ll engage with Rev. Sydney and fellow members to say what matters to you, talk meaningfully with others who care, and discuss how we serve as stewards. Multiple meetings will be held in March and on April 1 in homes and at church (with childcare if needed). Sign up after February Sunday services in the lobby. Faith Forward: Inquirers

Informational sessions about our church designed for visitors, new church members, and inquirers will be presented in this 8-week series that repeats throughout the year. Faith Forward: Beyond Inquirers / UU Elevator Speech

This 8-session series takes place on a recurring basis each Sunday. There are 5 sessions of Beyond Inquirers and 3 sessions of UU Elevator Speech. You can drop in at any time, and later on pick up classes you miss. This is a class that empowers new and long term UUs to answer the question: “What is Unitarian Universalism?” The session on 2/19 is: “Writing Your UU Elevator Speech." Rev. "Now Is The Time" Health Care For All Movie

Sunday, Feb 19, noon-1:30pm (Sanctuary)

There will be a 30-minute version of the movie "Now is the Time," a film documenting the need for a universal health care system. A panel discussion will follow that will include the director/producer team. Snacks provided. Free. Everyone is invited. Health Care for All Oregon (HCAO) is a UUCE Justice Network sponsored volunteer organization. Faith Forward: Spiritual Practices

Sunday, February 19, 12:30-1:30pm (Chapel ) - 12 sessions remaining 

Develop the tools for daily practice, weekly worship, monthly service, yearly retreat, and a one-time pilgrimage to enliven and enhance our spiritual lives. This 13-session class, facilitated by Ministerial Intern Andy Chirch and Director of Lifespan Religious Education Katy Siepert, will offer direct experience with various spiritual practices. Food For Lane County Food Rescue Night 

Thursday, February 23, 6:30-8:30pm (off-site, 770 Bailey Hill Road, Eugene)

Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Pacific Northwest District (PNWD) Assembly At UUCE 

Saturday, February 25, 9:00am-5:30pm (UUCE rooms)

Join UUs for this annual gathering with worship, singing, workshops, and food. We will hear from the three candidates for the presidency of the UUA, and a brief business meeting will be conducted. UUCE has 4 delegates: Barbara Kellogg, Lizzy Utterback, Robin Schantz-Mulford, and Rob Barnes. Registration will be available onsite, cost $80. SpiritJam Next Sunday, Feb 26  (with real donkey!)

Eeyore Jam (Whole Group). Pooh’s lovable (and perpetually melancholy) friend, Eeyore, has some tips and strategies for all of us. Meet a real donkey, and learn about how to take care of your mental health regardless of how you feel. Make a Mental Health First Aid Kit! With Teacher Nancy and Dominique the Donkey. 35 minutes. 

Singing As Spiritual Practice

Starts Sunday, February 26, 4:00-5:30pm (Room 7) - 6 sessions 

This 6-session series will be taught by professional singer and vocal teacher Kristina Jones, and will offer a group experience of sound making for accessing higher creative energy and using it for fun, delight, and healing. Free.
